Apple Departmental Ordering Procedure
(Departmental Use Only)

PLEASE READ BEFORE PROCEEDING!!

All Macintosh systems meet or exceed minimum requirements to function on the University of Maryland, College Park's network and, all come with built-in Ethernet.

After reading this sheet, click on the Apple Store link below.

Follow all instructions specified by the Apple Store web site.

The Book Center will provide limited support: answers to general questions, availability of products, pre-sales configuration support and demonstration models.
Call (301) 314-7840.

  1. Click on "The Apple Store for Departmental Orders" located at the bottom of this page.
  2. This will take you to a secure page where you must log in with your Directory ID and password.
  3. Click on the link Institution ( for creating proposals - non-authorized purchaser)
  4. Locate the product closest to the one you are seeking and make any customizing changes you wish. You may also choose from a "Pre-built" model.
  5. Click the "Update Subtotal" button when you are finished making changes.
  6. Keep clicking on "Continue" and/or "Add to Order" until all items your desire are in your shopping basket.
  7. After selecting all the items you would like to purchase, click "View Curent Proposal" located on the top menu bar. You will then see the items that you selected. Make sure the items and quantity are as desired.
  8. Click the "Create Proposal" located at the bottom of the page once you are finished.
  9. Login if you have an existing Apple ID or register if you do not.
  10. After logging in, you should be at a paged titled "Proposal Information". Fill in all other necessary information. The purchasing agent's email address is apple@ubcmail.umd.edu
  11. Verify that all the information is correct and click "Continue"
  12. Print your proposal from your web browser
    OR
    You can print out your proposal by clicking "Download Your Proposal Information".
    You will need to have or download Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to view/print
    your proposal.
  13. Attach it to a Master Order Release Form with the following information:

  14. Send the Master Order Release Form with your proposal to:

You will receive a confirmation email from Apple Computer in around 30 minutes if you supplied your email address.
