THEFT PREVENTION

Don't leave books in an unattended or unsecured area! Once you decide to keep a book, make a unique marking on a specific page (for example, printing your birthday in green ink on page 196 in lower right hand corner). This will help distinguish your book from the hundreds of others like it on campus. (Note: for personal security reasons, never write your name, address, phone number or other personal information in the book.) If you believe your book has been lost or stolen:

  1. CONTACT THE UNIVERSITY POLICE IMMEDIATELY at 405-3555.

  2. THEN NOTIFY the University Book Center textbook manager at 314-BOOK. Tell the manager about any unique marking(s) you've made in the book and make sure to provide us with your POLICE CASE NUMBER.

All incoming books will be checked for those markings and you will be notified if the book is recovered.
